Next Meeting - Tuesday, October 19 at 7:30 PM (Maffit Room)

Reminder – The Budget & Taxation Committee, along with our colleagues from the Transportation Committee, will be meeting this Tuesday, October 19 (7:30 pm) in the Maffitt Room. Our speaker will be Delegate Vince Callahan. We’ve asked him to address adequate public facilities ordinances and developer impact fees; why Fairfax County received only 7.7% of the additional state aid to K-12 education despite having 13.5% of the students and “paying” 26% of the phase-out of the senior citizen exemption for the personal income tax, more than 20% of the car tax reimbursement freeze, etc.; and what we might expect on the transportation front in 2005 in view of the rejection of the sales tax increase (every precinct in Dranesville), Senator Chichester’s desire for tax increases and impact fees, and the significant risk that our area could loose all federal transportation funding because of the Sierra Club’s two court of appeals’ victories on air quality.
